Offline-first, cloud when you ask for it.
Your queries, credentials and results stay on your machine by default. Cloud is opt-in, per feature: shared connections, AI generation, Report Builder.
MongoQUI is a modern workspace built for teams that treat MongoDB as production infrastructure. Keyboard-first, AI-native, BI-capable and team-ready, without a dozen separate products wired together.
Every MongoDB team we talked to had the same day-to-day. Compass handles queries but cannot share a dashboard with a teammate. Studio 3T is capable but paywalls every useful feature. Robo 3T and NoSQLBooster feel abandoned. Metabase and Looker are strong for SQL warehouses but lose the plot on nested documents and array fields.
The end state is always the same: a half-built internal tool, a read-replica that an analyst pokes at, and no one knows who ran the last migration. Platform teams stitch three tools, a spreadsheet and a Slack channel together, and still miss the audit trail.
MongoQUI is our bet that the workspace can be one product, built by a small team with strong opinions, that engineers want to open every morning. Not a bundle. Not a CRUD table with an AI chatbot stapled on. A real tool, for a real database, used by real teams.
That means the GUI and the shell and the AI assistant and the Report Builder and the RBAC layer all live in the same binary, share the same keyboard shortcuts, and write to the same audit log. When we say “local-first,” we mean the Python sidecar on your machine. When we say “shared,” we mean AES-256-encrypted and revocable. When we say “SOC 2-ready,” we mean the controls ship. The certification is the audit, and the audit is in progress.
Your queries, credentials and results stay on your machine by default. Cloud is opt-in, per feature: shared connections, AI generation, Report Builder.
No vanity badges. If the page says AES-256, TOTP or audit log, the code ships it. If we don't do it, we don't claim it.
A workspace used for hours a day must be fast to drive. Shortcuts, Monaco, saved queries, tab history: all first-class.
GUI, shell, AI, sharing, reports and RBAC live in a single app. You do not pay three vendors to get one workflow.
Mapped one-for-one to the UPPER_SNAKE flags in frontend/lib/config/features.ts.
Basic, Pro, Ultimate. 14-day trial on every Pro feature, no credit card required.
This site renders without a CMS, without runtime fetch. The content lives in git.
No fake certifications, no expired Privacy Shield badges, no inflated user counts.
No quarters, no dates to the month. These four items are in motion right now. Some are already merged behind feature flags, others scoped and staffed.
Controls already implemented; the Type II engagement is in progress. Report available on request once the audit closes.
brew install mongoqui, winget install MongoQUI and an apt repository, shipped alongside the existing direct-download flow so team installs stop being a ticket.
Broader provider coverage past OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini, plus cleaner bring-your-own-key UX so finance teams can run their own provider contracts.
Public share link analytics (who viewed, when, from where) plus webhook endpoints so Report Builder actions can fire into your incident and observability stack.
“MongoDB teams are stuck choosing between a free tool that stops at find, and a paid tool that paywalls every second click. We’re building the workspace that fills the gap: one product, one keyboard, one audit log.”
Download the desktop app for a 14-day trial with every Pro feature unlocked, or book a call if you are rolling MongoQUI out across a team.
